It is the generation, storage and administration of energy resources in the places where they are consumed, in order to satisfy user needs while offering higher quality, reliability and efficiency.
According to the latest World Bank figures, there are approximately 2,000 million people who have no access to electricity. The problem is especially worrying in regions such as Africa, where less than 10% of the rural population has access to electricity. In Asia this percentage does not reach 30%. The figures are so worrying and the problem is so serious that international organizations have been obliged to modify their scale of priorities concerning the steps to be taken to solve the problem.
Rural electrification and distributed generation for remote areas must be implanted while taking into account a number of sustainable development criteria.
